Hendrick buys first C7, 2014 Corvette Stingray for $1.05M

2014 Chevrolet Corvette StingrayNASCAR Team owner, Chevrolet dealer owner, noted Corvette and general automotive enthusiast, Rick Hendrick has purchased the right to VIN#0001 of the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

No stranger to the Barrett-Jackson auction, Hendrick bid up the right to custom order the first 2014 Corvette off the assembly line. In 2010 he paid $297,000 for the right to buy the first 2011 Corvette Carbon Z06 edition. This seventh-edition, or C7, edition is more special as is represents the first car produced of an entire new generation of Corvettes. He bid $1,050,000 for this privilege,  $1,155,000 with the buyer’s premium.

The 2014 Corvette is completely redesigned and will feature a 6.2L LT1 V8 engine that will produce a minimum of  450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque, yielding and 0-60 times of under 4 seconds. A dry-sump oil system will be available and a 7-speed manual transmission with “Active Rev Matching” is standard.
